I am a NASM and CI-CPT (Cooper Institute – Certified Personal Trainer), ACE Certified Fitness Nutritionist, and former competitive athlete turned “Weekend Warrior.” Like many of you, life had plans for me that I did not consider, including multiple “game changing” injuries and responsibilities at home that interfered with my ability to remain fit and in peak condition. But with proper training, diet and a healthy dose of commitment, I have been able to overcome those barriers to increase my fitness and lean muscle mass while decreasing unwanted body fat, even as a “mature adult!” Now my mission is to help other people, who were once competitive athletes and have become deconditioned due to injury and/or major life changes, regain their fitness and competitive edge while I continue my personal journey.
If you’d like to know more about my transformation from competitively fit, to “fluffy” and back to fit, see My Transformation to get the nitty gritty.
I am passionate about a variety of sports and activities but predominately participate in endurance sports including Triathlon, Obstacle Course Racing (OCR), and Running 10k’s, Half Marathons and the occasional Marathon. My motto, if it gets you up, out, and moving, its good!
I have formal creative writing training from the University of California at Berkeley (CAL) and hold degrees in Social Science and Law from CAL and the University of San Francisco School of Law respectively. I have participated in sports and athletics for over 40 years and have worked in both law and social work policy and development amassing almost 30 years combined experience.
